Introduction to Handgun:

Description: This is designed to create a solid foundation for new shooters, first time handgun owners, those preparing to get their concealed carry or those who have never taken a training course. The course focus is safe weapon handling and becoming familiar with grip, stance, sight alignment/sight picture and trigger control. Both iron sight and red dot handguns are welcome.

The classroom portion will give an overview of handguns as well as a workshop with inert guns to go over the fundamentals of shooting. During this time, a UTM gun will be used with SBR (Silent Blank Rounds) ammo in order to cycle the gun. Students will also be able to use their handgun in dryfire. Each student will have the opportunity to participate in this workshop in order to get the technique down prior to the range time.

Concealed Carry Red Dot 1:

Description: The red dot equipped handgun has become the preferred conceal carry method for many responsible gun owners. Those who have experienced frustration with a red dot handgun are either frustrated because they cannot keep the dot steady enough in the window to take an accurate shot, they lose the dot after recoil or cannot initially find the dot during presentation. We can help with all of these frustrations and show you how to resolve them quickly and consistently in this course.

In this course we will cover how to maintain the red dot so it is ready when you need it. How to quickly find the red dot (if you lose it). How to find the dot upon presentation (each time). What to do if optic battery is dead or the emitter is not working.

This is not an entry level course. Although we will be covering some of the fundamentals, the student should have a firm understanding of them already and should be able to consistently pass the 5x5 drill from concealment (target found on Luckygunner.com; just Google “5x5 Drill”). We will be starting the course with this drill to get an understanding of everyone's skill level.

Objective: Have a firm understanding of how to safely and efficiently deploy your handgun from concealment. By the end of this course you will also have a solid foundation on best practices for Red Dot concealed carry techniques.

Class Size: Max of 12

Prerequisites: Must have completed an Introduction or Basic Pistol course prior. Certification of successful completion will be required. Student must also have a firm understanding of the Fundamentals.
